Deeply Human Design is a podcast about the real, messy, and meaningful side of being a design practitioner.
This isn’t a show about design celebrities or glossy case studies. It’s about everyday designers — the ones navigating layoffs, rejection, difficult projects, moments of doubt, and those rare flashes of joy when the work truly connects.
Each episode is a conversation that goes beyond job titles and portfolios. You’ll hear honest stories of failure, resilience, and growth. We’ll explore what it’s like to be a designer when the industry feels uncertain, and how people keep going, adapt, and sometimes even thrive.
If you’re a designer (or design-adjacent) looking for connection, solidarity, and a reminder that you’re not alone in this work, the deeply human design podcast is for you.
About me
I’m Danny Hearn, a UX generalist and workshop facilitator with 20 years’ experience helping teams design, test, and improve digital products. I’ve worked across startups, agencies, charities, and big-name brands like John Lewis, Clarks, and Parkinson’s UK. My background spans research, product design, mentoring, and leading design change inside organisations

But here’s the thing: I don’t just care about design. I care about the people behind it. The designers figuring things out on the fly, doubting themselves, carrying the weight of change, and still showing up to do the work.
That’s why I started Deeply Human Design.
At my core, I value authenticity, curiosity, and connection. I believe design is as much about how we show up for each other as it is about the things we make. I’m not interested in polished highlight reels. I’m interested in the stories we don’t always share: the failures, the stuck moments, the unexpected lessons, the deeply human side of design.
Outside of work, I’m fuelled by dancing, regenerative design, and exploring how communities can support each other. I bring that same energy into this podcast — curious, warm, and a little playful.
